Smultronställe Feldenkrais Stockholm
The Feldenkrais method allows us to improve our movement, posture and breathing; and thus become more powerful, flexible and coordinated. More than that, we can learn about ourselves at the deepest level, and our potential for creatively meeting new challenges.
Re-connect with your body and with your whole self
As we grow up, we learn to ignore the signals we receive from within and to privilege our thoughts as the supreme form of expression. Mild discomforts become injuries, and we lose the full potential our whole selves have. Mind and body are not separate entities: we exist in unity.Explore a way out from chronic pain
When we are in pain, we learn not to move the area that causes us trouble. And the less we use it, the more stuck it gets. Feldenkrais lessons are slow and gentle, an exploration of movement in comfort, to learn to use ourselves better and escape the movement patterns that create pain.Come back from injuries
Sometimes an injury heals, but the pain that came with it stays (see [overcoming chronic pain](/articles/overcome-chronic-pain)). Other times, an injury heals but leaves with us movement patterns that we have learnt to deal with the pain, but that unknowingly hinder us today. Yesterday's solution becomes today's problem.Learn to manage anxiety and to ground yourself
Paying attention to the sensations that happen here and now can help us find the ground when we tend to fall into spyraling thoughts. Feeling our yourself rest on the ground and finding ways to letting our weight sink down rather than having to hold ourselves up all the time.Expand your movement possibilities and find ease in daily actions
There's so many ways we could move in, and so few we are competent in. This is not about crazy handstands or incredible flips, but in exploring options in everyday movements and unlocking movement possibilities we weren't even aware of.Find ways of softness, in actions and thoughts alike
How would you think if you would move in an entirely new way? As we learn to move with more ease, we find more softness. Lying on the floor might suddenly feel pleasant - like it's not so hard anymore. And as our movements become softer, our thoughts, beliefs, and world attitudes become softer too.Meet like-minded people in a relaxed social context, without apps
The weekly classes are an opportunity to meet people sharing your same wish for softness. More than that, they feature a healthy, simple, & almost-free dinner that brings us together as if it was 2003: no apps, no phones, just us.⟶ Join weekly classes (remote or IRL) or book an individual session.
Your wild strawberries place 🍓
In Swedish, smultronställe literally means place of wild strawberries: it is a place of exceptional beauty, one connected to sweet memories and playfulness, that is close to your heart, where you feel at ease and at one with the world.
My invitation is to find the smultronställe in yourself. A place that is soft and comfortable, where you can be kind to yourself, find new opportunities, and soar for new horizons. One where you can feel pulled by comfort, rather than pushed away by pain. One where you can feel what you are doing, so that you may choose to do differently. One where you accept yourself, and yet not feel stuck in anything you may be now.
Group classes
In group classes we explore small movements to learn to use ourselves better and find more comfort in everyday life. Can you lift boxes easier? Drive without your buttocks going numb? Play the piano lighter? Make the bed with more ease? Dance more freely? You can find more lightness in every action.
Individual sessions
In an individual session we look at how you move and feel, and seek to enlarge the space of your comfort. Through gentle hands-on work, we explore the way your body likes to move and the ways in which it is not yet accustomed to moving.
Workshops
Workshops are a good opportunity to get a good taste of Feldenkrais. They are particularly directed to music schools, dance schools, or other groups in which participants have a shared context. The length can be adjusted to the group and the interest area we want to explore together.
